"SAGAMI was the light of my life, my constant, purring companion for more
than 15 years. She was what I like to refer to as "the first obese blonde
supermodel" (see our "Custom Jewelry" page), and a sushi barfly (she was born in
a parking lot in North Jersey, and named after a Japanese restaurant in South
Jersey). I knew her feral mother before she and her four sisters were born. I
rescued all but one who got away, and their mom. Two went to Boston, one stayed
in NJ, and my precious little fur girl went with me to San Diego when she was
two years old (she insisted that, being blonde, she'd been switched at birth and
needed to get to the warm California sunshine).
She saved my life once, I am sure, by knocking a vial of antibiotics off a
counter to hit me on the head as I sat on the kitchen floor with pneumonia and a
raging fever -- I'd forgotten to take my medicine. They know...I am sure of
it! She provided me with love, purrs, entertainment, and companionship for the
toughest years of my life, and I will be thankful for her always.
We relocated to Edgewood, NM in July, 2007. Sagami stayed with me through
the move, giving constant moral support and comfort. She waited for me to
acclimate a bit and make some friends, and then decided she could move on. I
know she is now in a better place, on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge, just
waiting for me to join her some day.
I cherish the memory of her choosing to greet me at the door over my mother's offer of a plate of chicken... I love her so much... I'd like to think my mother is feeding her chicken again (or some heavenly version of the same kind of joy)... I also remember a past guy-friend feeding her, saying "sit" (he was a dog
person), and her looking up at him as if to say "No, no, no, buddy, you don't
get it. You just put the food down, and maybe I'll let you sit! Have
you heard me bark lately?"
She was a beautiful little fur girl with a ton of purrrrrrrsonality (and
strong jaws)! How I long for her great, locomotive-type purr now.
"If I could build a stairway with tears and a road with memories, I'd
climb right up to Heaven and bring her back..."
Thank you Sagami, for all your love and companionship! |
